Abstract
This fix pack is a cumulative fix release and addresses some new APARs and internally found issues since the release of Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus 8.1.0 Fix Pack 32.
Download Description
Java 8 Important Information
This upgrade uninstalls the existing IBM Java 7 and installs the latest version of the IBM Java 8 JRE. If any of the Java 7 files were modified since the v8.1 installation, then these modified files are removed during the upgrade process, except for the java.security file. Before you perform the upgrade, back up these modified files to a private location, then after the upgrade reapply the modifications. The Java 8 java.security file has significant differences to the Java 7 java.security file. Review the default Java 8 java.security file and update it to comply with the existing settings in the Java 7 java.security file.
IBM Java 8 does NOT run on some older versions of operating systems, which include the following operating systems:
- AIX 6.1 before Tech Level 9
- Older versions of Linux (due to a GLIBC 2.7 requirement)
- Solaris SPARC 32 bit (IBM Java on Solaris SPARC is 64 bit only)
DT393774
To address possible security issues, the JRE for Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus V8.1.0 is updated to IBM JRE 8.0 SR8 FP30.
Login to the Process Agent using PAM authentication shows failures in the PAM logs when using the encrypted version of the password. A new property is added to Process Agent properties, AuthPasswdPlain. With the default setting of TRUE, the Process Agent acts as usual, trying the password as plain text first, and then trying the password as encrypted on failure. By setting AuthPasswdPlain to FALSE, the Process Agent will first try the password as encrypted, and then try the password as plain text on failure. PAM log failures can be avoided by choosing the desired setting for AuthPasswdPlain.

On some current AMD processors, nco_keygen could hang due to a bug in GSKit. The GSKit upgrade to v8.0.55.24 in this fix pack fixes the issue for systems running in non-FIPS mode. For FIPS mode, the workaround is to set the variable ICC_SHIFT=3 in the environment where 'nco_keygen' is run.
DT378649
User authentication via LDAP over SSL sometimes fails, where it would succeed with LDAP over non-SSL. This was due to the LDAP search over SSL following referrals and failing to bind, whereas referrals are not followed over non-SSL. The option to follow referrals (LDAP_OPT_REFERRALS) is now turned off for LDAP over SSL as well, to allow these authentications to succeed.
DT392552
When attempting to create a journal or detail entry using the creation factory feature of the OSLC interface for a non-existent alert the ObjectServer terminates unexpectedly. This problem is fixed.
DT393130
The HTTP interface code now prevents manipulation of the HTTP host header field in the URI responses of ObjectServer RESTOS API.

If your computer has internet access and you have an IBM Passport Advantage account, you can update packages directly from Passport Advantage.
1. Start Installation Manager.
2. Under the Preferences option, select Repositories and make sure the "Search service repositories during installation and updates" is checked.
3. Select the update option and select the "IBM Tivoli NetcoolcOMNIbus" entry from the list of packages to find updates for.
Extract the Fixpack into a new temporary directory, then specify the repository in the preferences before you update. Each package must be extracted into a new directory.
1. Start Installation Manager.
2. Under the Preferences option, select Repositories and add a repository. Give the location of the extracted OMNIbusRepository/composite directory.
3. Select the update option and select the "IBM Tivoli Netcool OMNIbus" entry from the list of packages to find updates for.
If you downloaded the ESD for Fix Pack 32, then:
1. Create a directory to store the files and extract the contents of the .zip file into this directory.
2. After you installed Installation Manager either with Administrator or Nonadministrator mode, run the update_gui script to launch Installation Manager into the update panel without the requirement of configuring the update repository.
3. If the script fails, or Installation Manager is installed in Group mode, or you want to run in console mode, then you must configure the update repository as described in the pervious section, Local Repository. The new repository is the extracted OMNIbusRepository/composite directory.
4. Select the "IBM Tivoli Netcool OMNIbus" entry from the list of packages to find updates for.
