PH58900: Initial JVM server output lost when redirected to file of one type to the other

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• A JVM server is configured to redirect messages to JES/DD cards
  with the following in the JVM profile:
  
  STDOUT=//DD:STDOUT
  STDERR=//DD:STDERR
  
  This could mean that some early messages are lost.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Missing messages when a JVM server's    *
  *                      output is redirected from a file of one *
  *                      type to the other, for example, when    *
  *                      redirecting from USS zFS files to JES.  *
  ****************************************************************
  A change in Java 11.0.16 meant that early messages issued by a
  JVM server were lost when redirected from a file of one type to
  the other. A further change in Java 8.0.8.15, Java 11.0.17, and
  Java 17.0.0 meant that the option
  "-Dcom.ibm.writeToStandardOutputsUsingStreams" must be specified
  as true in order to allow early messages to be issued to be
  redirected. However, CICS co-requisite changes are required to
  facilitate this.
  

Problem conclusion

• CICS has been changed so that required co-requisite changes have
  been made and that these early messages are no longer lost when
  redirected from a file of one type to the other.
