TI Process Error - Unable to open data source - Failed to send HTTP POST request

Troubleshooting

Problem

An error is encountered attempting to Preview or Execute a Planning Analytics TI Process that uses the Planning Analytics ODBC Connector (ODBCIS) as a data source.  Unable to open data source - Failed to send HTTP POST request

Diagnosing The Problem

  • This error can occur if the ODBC Connector is not configured with an appropriate trusted certificate authority
  • This error can also occur if using an appropriate trusted certificate authority, however an incomplete certificate configuration
    • For example, missing root or intermediate certificate entries

Resolving The Problem

  • Using OpenSSL, (third party tool you must obtain if not available), execute the following to test your ODBCIS URL endpoint: openssl s_client -debug -showcerts -connect host.domain.com:5555
  • The output of should result in all certificates being provided back to the openssl command
  • If all certificates are not present in the output, this indicates that the certificate file is incomplete (referenced via tlsCert parameter in internal.config.json file)
