APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • An API exit had inserted some unwanted contents into the Message
Body of a reply message from the command server to the runmqsc
program.

The runmqsc program then failed with a SIGSEGV.

Local fix

  • Remove any exits that are causing the unexpected data in the PCF
reply message

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
USERS AFFECTED:
Users of runmqsc using remote qmgr mode, or other admin programs
that use PCF messages, where the reply from the command server
is altered by API exits from its normal format.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
There were too few validity checks in the MQ code that receives
the PCF reply from the command server. The MQ code used the data
assuming it contained correct lengths, when in fact they were
wrong or not-valid.

Problem conclusion

  • A full set of validity checks has been added into the MQ code
that receives the PCF reply from the command server.
