APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • A CPU spike was noted via CICS Explorer service data.
There were a large number of CICSRGN requests attributed to a
    specific userid.
There were also a high number of CWWU transactions and several
of the CWWU transactions were taking over a second of CPU time.
It looked like there were more requests than necessary being
made by CICS Explorer to provide the 'decorators' in the
    CICSplex Explorer.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • CICS Explorer requests model objects for regions by activating
the model and then deactivates in order to trigger a CPSM result
set discard. Since APAR IJ30410, the model contents are thrown
away. The subsequent attempt to read the model contents
triggers a new set of model activation requests.

Problem conclusion

  • CICS Explorer requests model objects for regions by activating
the model and then deactivates in order to trigger a CPSM result
set discard. The model contents are now retained and the
subsequent attempt to read the model contents uses the retained
contents. This has reduced the amount of CPU being used.

This fix will be made available in Version 5.5.33 (32.0.5) of
    the CICS Explorer.
