PH57777: PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN ALT IMMEDIATE CHANGE IS DONE ON AN ACCELERATED TABLE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• A problem occurs when altering a table on accelerator while
  trying to alter a column from decimal(9,6) to decimal(11,6).
  
  This occurs when the following sequence is used:
  Panel ADB21T:  command ALT on table that is on accelerator.
  Panel ADB21CTC:  change the column from DECIMAL(9,6) to
  DECIMAL(11,6).  Do Command NEXT.
  Panel ADB27CTC:  option 1, perform command in foreground .
  Back to panel ADB27C and no change was performed.
  
  If the command NEXT is done again, the result is error ADBGAJOB,
  line 15801: signal error and no other ALTER on any table
  accelerated or not with the same message.

  When using ALT to change a column type in an accelerated table
  by using an ALTER statement in the foreground (online),  panel
  ADB27C is displayed without the change being made or with the
  following error:
     ERROR  ADBGAJOB
     line 15801;
     Signal Error
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been fixed.   Changes that can be done in the
  foreground on tables that are not on accelerators will not
  be allowed to be done in the foreground on tables that are on
  accelerators. Those changes will need to be made through
  batch processing to accommodate the accelerator commands that
  are needed.
