Error description

  • The Load Balancer high availability state is controlled in the
    executor code. The dsserver process queries the status based
    off the highavailability interval setting that is defined in
    seconds. The interval should allow for milliseconds to
    maintain accurate status.

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Load Balancer users with *
    * LB high availability configured *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The Load Balancer server does not *
    * obtain the high availability status *
    *                      in a timely fashion.                    *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The Load Balancer server obtains the current high availability
    status from Load Balancer's executor code every 3 seconds.
    High availability heartbeats occur every 0.5 seconds and the
    high availability status can change every 0.5 second. The
    server needs to query the status more frequently to provide
    accurate status.

Problem conclusion

  • The interval to query the high availability status was
    modified to use milliseconds instead of seconds. Status
    queries occur on a 250ms interval.

    This value can be modified by setting the custom property
    LB_HA_INTERVAL=new_value where the new_value is expressed as
    milliseconds (1 second = 1000 milliseconds).
