• When a file level restore is attempted, the process may hang.

  Above errors are seen in Data Protection for VMware version
  8.1.14 and higher regardless of the interface used forthe
  restore operation.

Problem conclusion

• There are some race conditions in IBM Spectrum Protect
  backup-archive client to handle the messages from multiple
  threads. And it may cause the File Level Restore job hang up. A
  synchronous lock was added to fix this problem. Since the
  synchronous lock may impact to the throughput of jobs, the fix
  will be disabled by default and will be enabled if the new
  testflag "SYNCHANDLEMSG" is specified.
