Problem

A missing "relData" folder in the DOORS database server data folder "v6data" directory results in the DOORS database server crashing, when module or object properties are selected in a DOORS client.

Symptom

The DOORS database server crashes.

In some very specific configurations, the "relData" folder does not exist and is not automatically created.

In this scenario, when a user selects Module or Object Properties in the DOORS client, the DOORS database server crashes.

Cause

The "relData" subfolder is missing in the DOORS database server folder "data\v6data".

We do not have reproducible steps to re-create this issue with either new or migrated data.

Diagnosing The Problem

Additional Information:

The "relData" folder is used for the IBM DOORS discussions feature.
The DOORS Discussion functionality was introduced in DOORS 8.3.
Changes were made in DOORS 9.7.x where the existence of the "relData" folder became mandatory. If this folder does not exist, the DOORS database server crashes when a user selects Properties on DOORS modules or objects in the DOORS client.

Resolving The Problem

Manually create the "relData" folder in "data\v6data".

A typical file listing of the "v6data" folder looks like this on Windows:

Note the "relData" folder between "project.ixc" and "users".
