How To
Summary
How to verify if Integrated Management Modules (IMM), or XClarity Controllers (XCC), network speeds create high probability of success for remote mounting?
Objective
- Administrators with network speeds under 1000 Mbps report installation errors over remote mount.
- Network infrastructure, such as IPS devices or firewalls can drop connections, leading to installation errors.
Steps
How to check network speeds by using IMM, or XCC, status tools?
- Log in to IMM web UI.
- Go to Server Management > Remote Control.
- Select Use the Java Client.
- Select Start remote control in multi-user mode.
- Once IMM opens, select Tools > Stats.
- Verify your bandwidth is above 1000 Mbps. If not above 1000 Mbps, use the USB method and not remote mounting.
How to check network speeds using SSH?
- Using the username and password for the IMM web UI, SSH into the IMM with verbose logging turned on (-v). Verbose enables some connection stats when you exit as well.
- Review the network configuration:
ifconfig eth0
- Verify the following variables:
-r greater than or equal to 1000
-d = full
-m = 1500
Note: If they report as auto, then they could be getting much less from the router. If you see other values, update the router to the correct settings. - Exit connection:
exit
- Record bandwidth stats:
Bytes per second: sent {N1}, received {N2}
