Troubleshooting
Problem
In distributed Cognos environment, where advanced dispatcher routing has been configured with two or more dispatchers assigned to the Cognos server group dedicated for processing dynamic cubes, getting intermittent error when running Cognos dynamic cube reports:
"XRP-ERR-0004 The Dynamic Cube "<name of cube>" either does not exist or has not been added to a Query Service instance..."
Symptom
Intermittent error running Cognos Dynamic Cube reports:
"XRP-ERR-0004 The Dynamic Cube "<name of cube>" either does not exist or has not been added to a Query Service instance..."
Cause
One, or more, of the dispatchers assigned to the Cognos server group dedicated for processing dynamic cubes, out of synchronization and\or not correctly registered in the Cognos Administration under Cognos server group dedicated for processing dynamic cubes.
Diagnosing The Problem
Stop the dispatchers from Cognos server group dedicated for processing dynamic cubes, leave only the dispatcher that is used in Cognos Configuration for Cognos Dynamic Cube Designer "Dispatcher URI for external applications" running.
Test running Cognos dynamic cube reports.
Resolving The Problem
- In Cognos Administration unregister the all of the dispatchers from Cognos server group dedicated for processing dynamic cubes, leave the only dispatcher that is used in Cognos Configuration for Cognos Dynamic Cube Designer "Dispatcher URI for external applications" as registered.
- Cleared the java work area folders on the all of the stopped dispatchers from Cognos server group dedicated for processing dynamic cubes as per technical note document: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/cleaning-temporary-java-workarea-cognos-analytics
- Start Cognos services on the stopped dispatchers.
- Add the dispatchers back to the Cognos server group dedicated for processing dynamic cubes,
- Restart all of the dynamic cubes inside Cognos Administration.
- Tested running dynamic cubes reports
