PH56112: The default IGYCDOPT option customization module erroneously contains unused compiler diagnostic routines

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The default IGYCDOPT option customization module delivered with
  the compiler contains compiler debug CSECTs BPX1WRT, IGZXPK_M
  and WRITEIT. These modules are not used, as IGYCDOPT is a data
  only module, but does result in a user customized IGYCDOPT that
  is considerably smaller than the default, suggesting something's
  amiss with user option customization.
  

Local fix

• The problem is mostly harmless.
  

Problem summary

  *                 module for their COBOL compiler users. This  *
  *                 installation defaults module IGYCDOPT will   *
  *                 be generated larger than it actually needs   *
  *                 to be.                                       *

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Incorrect Output. The IGYCDOPT          *
  *                      installation defaults module built by   *
  *                      the system administrator may contain    *
  *                      references to unknown CSECTS that are   *
  *                      not a standard part of the installation *
  *                      defaults module, such as CSECT:         *
  *                      IGZXPK_M or CSECT: WRITEIT, for         *
  *                      example. Although these CSECTS cause no *
  *                      functional problems, they unnecessarily *
  *                      increase the size of the IGYCDOPT       *
  *                      module and should not be there.         *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the IBM provided PTF and rebuild       *
  *                 IGYCDOPT module                              *

  This problem was introduced back in the pre-V6.3 GA development
  timeframe when the compiler team changed the compiler build
  files in a way that caused internal debug object files to be
  linked into all of the compiler modules that are shipped. This
  was never meant to include the IGYCDOPT installation defaults
  file.
  

Problem conclusion

• The compiler has been updated so that it will no longer
  statically link the internal debugging object files into the
  IGYCDOPT installation defaults module.
