Error description

  • If a WebSphere Application Server servant crashes while there
are still active requests being processed, Tivoli Performance
Viewer (or other performance tooling) may show a wrong count for
ActiveCount ORB Thread Pool. The MBean that holds the active
value incorrectly reports the requests that were active during
the crash as still active even if they were terminated. PH29087
addressed similar issue but for overall Thread Active Count.
This apar address ORB thread Pool count.

    ****************************************************************
If a WebSphere Application Server servant crashes while there
are still active requests being processed, Tivoli Performance
Viewer (or other performance tooling) may show a wrong count
    for
the specific sub-thread pool (i.e. ActiveCount for ORB Thread
Pool). The MBean that holds the active
value incorrectly reports the requests that were active during
the crash as still active even if they were terminated. PH29087
addressed similar issue but for overall Thread Active Count.
This apar address ORB thread Pool count.

Problem conclusion

  • The WebSphere Application Server has been updated to properly
remove aggregation of statistics when a servant is shut down or
    crashes.

The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack
8.5.5.25 and 9.0.5.17. For more information, see 'Recommended
