Error description

  • The IBM Spectrum Protect for Virtual Environments: Data
    Protection
    for VMware data mover scheduler service dsmcsvc.exe can crash
    during the scheduled VM backup.
    No dsmcrash dump files are created and the Windows event log
    does not report a faulting dsm application.
    No relevant messages are listed in the scheduler and error log
    file. The scheduler log file does not list any messages after
    the crash until dsmsvc.exe restarts.
    The crash may occur irrespective of whether the scheduler
    service is managed by the Client Acceptor Daemon or not.

    A client trace with vddk trivia log level will show messages
    like the following:

    [date time] [pid] [tid] : ..\..\common\vm\vmvddksdk.cpp(1371):
    [date time] panic -[tid] [Originator@xxxx sub=Default]

    [date time] [pid] [tid] : ..\..\common\vm\vmvddksdk.cpp(1371):
    --> Panic: Win32 exception: Access Violation (0xc0000005)
