Errors "Unable to create multiple doorsd instance subkey" and "Unable to create registry subkey Access is denied. (0x5)" during IBM® DOORS® Server instance creation (-minstall)

Problem

During the execution of the command for creating extra DOORS server instances, two error messages display:

Unable to create multiple doorsd instance subkey

Unable to create registry subkey Access is denied. (0x5)

Symptom

In line with the product documentation:

A command-line command is launched to install a new instance of the DOORS database server service:

C:\>"C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Rational\DOORS\9.7\bin\doors.exe" -minstall -port port_number -serverdata server_data_path

Two errors are returned:

Unable to create multiple doorsd instance subkey

Unable to create registry subkey Access is denied. (0x5)

Following the errors, no additional DOORS database server instance is created.

Cause

The command was run without Administrator privileges on the operating system.

To run the command with Administrator privileges on the operating system, launch the console application CMD.exe "As Administrator", if you are logged in as a non-Administrator.

If you are logged in as an Administrator user, the console application CMD.exe is launched with Administrator privileges.
