Troubleshooting
Problem
An error message is displayed in Planning Analytics for Excel after the environment to connect to is chosen, and before the login prompt comes up.
Symptom
Error Message:

Cause
Planning Analytics for Excel user profile got corrupted.
Resolving The Problem
- Make sure that Excel is closed so no Excel process is running
- Navigate to the "Office Connection" folder in the user's profile in Windows. For instance: "C:\Users\userprofile\AppData\Local\Cognos\Office Connection
- Rename the "Office Connection" folder to "Office Connection_old"
- Launch PA for Excel and connect to the PA instance -- this step will generate a new Office Connection directory
