SR-IOV backing device goes into dead state after SR-IOV adapter firmware update
Problem Description:
SR-IOV backing device (VF) goes into dead state after SR-IOV adapter firmware update. It may log following messages in errpt.
MLXCENT_DEAD_EXIT
MLXCENT_DEAD_ENTRY
MLXCENT_DEAD_REQ
MLXCENT_SW_ERR
MLXCENT_EEH_EXIT
MLXCENT_EEH_ENTRY
MLXCENT_EEH_DETECT
This can impact VIOS or AIX lpar with SR-IOV backing device.
Workaround:
Reboot VIOS or AIX
(which over owns the SR-IOV backing device)
