Error description
If an administrator wants a JAX-WS application to generate a message that uses the http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/REC-xml-c14n-20010315#WithComments canonicalization algorithm for the digital signature, there is no way to do it. A message that is generated with http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/REC-xml-c14n-20010315#WithComments can be consumed, but it cannot be generated.

Problem conclusion
The JAX-WS WS-Security runtime is updated so that the canonicalization algorithm can be customized for the digital signature generator. The com.ibm.ws.wssecurity.dsig.CanonicalizationAlgorithm custom property is introduced. This new custom property is set in the signing information section of request or response. This property only needs to be set for outbound messages. To configure the com.ibm.ws.wssecurity.dsig.CanonicalizationAlgorithm property, complete the following steps: 1. Click Services > Service clients or Service providers. 2. Click the service_name > binding_name. 3. Under Policy, click WS-Security. 4. Under Message Security Policy Bindings, click Authentication and protection. 5. Under either Request message signature and encryption protection or Response message signature and encryption protection, click the signature_message_part_reference. When you select the signature_message_part_reference name, you are accessing the configuration for the signed message part binding. 6. Specify the custom property, com.ibm.ws.wssecurity.dsig.CanonicalizationAlgorithm, and enter the desired canonicalization algorithm as the property value. An example value is http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/REC-xml-c14n- 20010315#WithComments. The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.24 and 9.0.5.17.
