APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Will provide more granual information messages to help resolve
    errors when setting DataSource properties.
    Example: DSRA8020E: Warning: The property 'URL' does not exist
    on the DataSource class
    oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleConnectionPoolDataSource.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application *
    *                  Server                                      *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A bug in the JRE causes issues when *
    *                      introspecting Java beans.               *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Upgrade Java version *
    ****************************************************************
    A bug in the JRE causes Introspector.decapitalize("URL") to
    return uRL instead of URL.
    Therefore, when WebSphere
    requests a list of properties from a DataSource class we are
    unable to match the configured DataSource property URL with
    the incorrectly named introspected property uRL.
    This means the URL will never be set on the DataSource object.
    Known Java version with this bug:
    1.8.0_151

Problem conclusion

  • With this fix, we will now provide a diagnostic trace that will
    show the descriptor names. For example:

    [10/1/21 21:53:03:652 UTC] 00000075 DSConfigHelpe I
    DSRA8200W: DataSource Configuration: Descriptor Name: URL
             Descriptor Value: null

    In failing cases, users will see Descriptor Name: uRL

    The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack
    8.5.5.24 and 9.0.5.17. For more information, see 'Recommended
    Updates for WebSphere Application Server':
    https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/715553

Temporary fix

  • Instead of configuring URL, configure the component
    properties, such as; networkProtocol, serverName, portNumber,
    serviceName, or databaseName
