Shipment Receiving Application - Explanation of Status

General Page

The Shipment Receiving application will indicate one of three available Status values, based on the receiving scenario.
Shipment Receiving Statuses:
NONE - Shipment has receivable items, and no completed Receipts or Returns
PARTIAL - Shipment has receivable items, and at least one completed Receipt or Return
COMPLETE - Shipment Document has no receivable items
Shipment Receiving Statuses - Explanation
Status: NONE
  • Upon creating a Shipment Document, the default receiving status is NONE.
  • The status remains as NONE during shipment until the actual Shipment Receiving process begins.
  • When a single item from a Shipment Line is received, and a completed Receipt transaction is recorded, the Shipment Document status changes.
  • The status reverts to NONE if the receiving process is reset, by Voiding all Receipts; this is only allowable if there were no Returns. Thereby creating the scenario where the entire ordered quantity can be received again.
Status: PARTIAL
  • If there is at least one Receipt or Return for the Shipment, and there are receivable items on any Shipment Line, the Shipment Document status will be PARTIAL.
  • The status corresponds to all receivables, and not whether all items originally ordered have been Transferred or not.
  • If some items have been Returned from the Shipment, and when there are no remaining items to receive, the PARTIAL status updates to COMPLETE.
  • If items become receivable again (due to Voiding Receipts), a COMPLETE status will revert back to PARTIAL.
Status: COMPLETE
  • If there are no receivable items on any Shipment Line, the status of the Shipment Document becomes COMPLETE.
  • The status can still revert back to PARTIAL if items become receivable again, such as in the case of voided Receipts.

Relevant Business Rules
  • During Shipment Receiving, a Voided Receipt will move the item back to the holding location, thus the item can be received again.
  • During Shipment Receiving, a Returned item is not moved back to the holding location; instead, it is Returned to the original Storeroom. Returned items cannot be received again.

Example Scenarios of Status Changes
  • Shipment Lines are partially received, status changes from NONE to PARTIAL; then all Receipts are Voided with no item Returned. In this case status reverts back to NONE.
  • Shipment Lines are partially received, status changes from NONE to PARTIAL; then after returning at least one (but not all) of the items, all remaining Receipts are Voided. In this case status remains PARTIAL and will not revert back to NONE.
  • All receivable items on all Shipment Lines are received, status changes to COMPLETE; if some, or all items have been returned, or will be subsequently returned, the status remains COMPLETE, since returned items are not receivable again in Shipment Receiving.
  • Shipment Receipts are COMPLETE, but at least one Receipt has been Voided at a later time; items became receivable again. In this case, status reverts back to PARTIAL.
