Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * * All Db2 12 for z/OS and Db2 13 for z/OS * * users of data sharing. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * * Detailed information for the page * * with minimum LRSN that causes a delay * * in GRECP recovery is not available. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * * Apply corrective PTF when available * **************************************************************** Group buffer pool recovery from the group buffer pool recovery pending (GRECP) state may delay when the GBP recovery LRSN isn't progressing. The GBP recovery LRSN is the minimum of the minimum page LRSN and the minimum member LRSN. The minimum page LRSN is the oldest changed page clean-to-dirty LRSN that was recorded at the time of the last group buffer pool checkpoint. The minimum member LRSN is the minimum member-level, write-pending LRSN that was recorded at the last group buffer pool checkpoint. DSNB355I message is issued at a group buffer pool checkpoint, if the minimum page LRSN is older than the time when the third-to-last group buffer pool checkpoint was taken or the minimum member LRSN is invalid. Db2 provides the minimum page LRSN and the local timestamp of the minimum page-level LRSN in DSNB355I message. However the detailed information for the page with minimum LRSN is not available.
Problem conclusion
APAR PH54199 adds the detailed information for the page identified with minimum page LRSN into the new message MSGDSNB360I to help locate the page and the object it belongs to. DSNB360I csect-name THE MINIMUM PAGE LRSN VALUE MIGHT CAUSE A DELAY IN GRECP RECOVERY FOR GROUP BUFFER POOL gbpname. PAGE LRSN = minimum-page-lrsn IN LOCAL TIMESTAMP = minimum-page-timestamp FOR DBID dbid-min PSID psid-min PARTITION partition-number PAGE NUMBER = page-number Explanation This message is issued at a group buffer pool checkpoint, if the minimum page LRSN that is used in recovery from the group buffer pool recovery pending (GRECP) state meets the following condition: o The minimum page LRSN is older than the time when the third-to-last regular group buffer pool checkpoint was taken. For example, suppose that regular group buffer pool checkpoints are taken at times T1, T2, T3, and T4. At time T4, if Db2 detects that the time of the minimum page LRSN is earlier than time T1, DSNB355I message is issued. Then a group buffer pool checkpoint will be triggered in seconds after time T4, and if Db2 detects that the time of the minimum page LRSN at that time is still earlier than time T1 and the time of the minimum member LRSN, DSNB360I message is issued. csect-name The name of the control section that issued the message. gbpname The name of the group buffer pool. minimum-page-lrsn The minimum page LRSN. This value is the oldest changed page clean-to-dirty LRSN that was recorded at the time of the last group buffer pool checkpoint. minimum-page-timestamp The local timestamp of the minimum page-level LRSN. dbid-min The DBID for the database with minimum page LRSN. psid-min The PSID for the table space or index space with minimum page LRSN. partition-number The partition or piece number for the table space or index space with minimum page LRSN. The value is in the range 1 - 4096 for partitioned pageset and 0 for linear pageset. page-number The page number of the page that was identified with minimum page LRSN. The local timestamps are in the following format: hh:mm:ss month dd, yyyy hh:mm:ss The time portion of the timestamp, expressed as hours, minutes, and seconds. month An alphanumeric abbreviation for the month. Possible values are: Month month value in the local timestamp January JAN February FEB March MAR April APR May MAY June JUN July JUL August AUG September SEP October OCT November NOV December DEC dd The day of the month. yyyy The year.
