PH54057: UTF16LE TYPE MANAGER IN CLEARCASE 10 FAILS TO PROCESS SOURCE CONTAINERS WITH "CONTAINS AND EXTRE \000" ERRORS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• After upgrading to ClearCase 10.0.0.x, the files of type
  utf16le_file may become inaccessible.
  
  Opening the file in a dynamic view on Windows will display an
  "incorrect function" message.
  
  Examination of the view log on the view server host shows this
  messsage:
  view_server[.exe]: Error unable to constrict cleartext for
  object {hex #} in VOB {VOB path}: Error detected by ClearCase
  subsystem
  view_server[.exe]: Error: Type manager "utf16le_file_delta"
  failed construct_version operation.
  view_server[.exe]: Warning: This objects type (operation
  "construct_version") does support UTF-16LE data only
  view_server[.exe]: Warning: utf16le_file_delta: Error:
  {container path} is not a 'UTF-16LE' file: It contains a extre
  '\000'.
  
  The container is not damaged, and can be processed by a 9.1.0.x
  or 9.0.2.x host.
  

Local fix

• Downgrade to ClearCase 9.0.2.x or 9.1.0.x
