Security Bulletin: IBM Cognos Analytics has addressed multiple vulnerabilities

Summary

Security vulnerabilities have been addressed in IBM Cognos Analytics 11.1.7 Fix Pack 7. These vulnerabilities have also been previously addressed in IBM Cognos Analytics 11.2.4 and 11.2.4 FP1. IBM WebSphere Liberty used in IBM Cognos Analytics is vulnerable to an HTTP Header Injection (CVE-2022-34165). The following 3rd party components are used by IBM Cognos Analytics and have been upgraded to address vulnerabilities: Node.js is an open-source and cross-platform JavaScript runtime environment (CVE-2022-32212, CVE-2022-32213, CVE-2022-32223, CVE-2022-32214, CVE-2022-32215, CVE-2022-35256, CVE-2022-35255, CVE-2022-43548). Node.js marked is a Node.js package that can be used to parse markdown into html (CVE-2022-21680, CVE-2022-21681). Node.js dicer is a multipart parser for Node.js (CVE-2022-24434). Node.js moment is a Node.js package use to parse, validate, manipulate, and display dates (CVE-2022-31129). Node.js decode-uri-component is a package to decode URIs (CVE-2022-38900). Google protobuf-java is a cross-platform data format used to serialize structured data. (CVE-2021-22569, CVE-2022-3171). Apache Calcite is an open-source framework for building databases and data management systems (CVE-2022-39135). CKEditor is a WYSIWYG rich text editor which can be directly inside web pages or application (CVE-2022-24728, CVE-2022-24729). Python is an object-oriented, programming language for web and app development (CVE-2022-45061). Swagger-UI is a tool for generating interactive API documentation (XFID:217346, XFID:221508). Netty is a Java-based non-blocking I/O networking framework (CVE-2022-41881). GNOME libxml2 is a software library for parsing XML documents (CVE-2021-3516, CVE-2021-3518). Additionally, a vulnerability where the content type of a browser's response was incorrectly stated has been addressed. This vulnerability could lead to Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks (CVE-2021-39036).

DESCRIPTION:   Apache Calcite is vulnerable to an XML external entity injection (XXE) attack when processing XML data, caused by improper input validation by the SQL operators EXISTS_NODE, EXTRACT_XML, XML_TRANSFORM and EXTRACT_VALUE. By using specially-crafted XML content, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to read arbitrary files, cause a denial of service, conduct an SSRF attack, or achieve other system impacts.
