  • "Next: Connect to your device" button
  • "Having trouble adding your device? Try this" link
What are the differences between these methods?
Steps to go to Register a FIDO device dialog window:
  1. Login to ISV launchpad.
  2. Open "Profile and settings" on user icon menu.
  3. Switch to "Security" tab.
  4. Push "Add new method +" button
  5. Push "Add device" button on "FIDO device"

Answer

The standard method is "Next: Connect your device".

The differences are as follows:

  • Connect your device:

    • Creates a "resident key credential” which stores information on the client-side device. This credential ends up visible in Google password manager. This type of credential can be used for password-less login.

  • Having trouble link:

    • Creates a "non-resident key credential" that can be used for 2FA only. This is typically used for older U2F-only keys that cannot store resident key credentials.
