Abstract

Client firewall, DNS, and proxy updates are required for continued Call Home and Code Acquisition capability.

Description

Client firewall, DNS, and proxy updates are required for continued Call Home and Code Acquisition capability. In addition, some DS8900F and DS8880 systems will require ICS (Install Corrective Service) installation.

Note:
If call home is not functional, DS8000 Open Problem Events will not be reported to IBM.
Problems that go unreported may result in impacts up to, and including, loss of data.

Recommended Action

REQUIRED: All DS8000 systems must have DNS Enabled, or firewall/proxy configuration that provides access to esupport.ibm.com, no later than 30 June, 2024. After this date, call home will no longer work

Fix:

Action 1:

- DS8900F & DS8880 must enable DNS on both HMCs, or ensure both HMCs are able to access esupport.ibm.com via firewall or proxy.

-And-

Action 2:
- DS8900F below R9.2 - 89.20.77.0, and using a proxy, must also install eccUpdater_v1.5 ICS or higher
- DS8880 using a proxy, must also install eccUpdater_v1.3 ICS or higher
