Question
A report with an interactive Data Table does not contain report data data when exporting to external formats such as CSV, Excel data or shows the message in Excel and PDF formats.
In the generated output the message is displayed:
Data table rendering is not supported for this output type.
Data table rendering is not supported for this output type.
Is it possible to export a Data Table to Excel, PDF, or other formats with data?
Cause
The interactive Data Table is a new type of data container first introduced in Cognos Analytics 11.1.6.
Data tables are similar to lists because they also show data in rows and columns. However, unlike in lists, the data is rendered on the browser side, and not on the Cognos Analytics server side. As a result, the data in Data Tables is displayed quickly.
However because the data being displayed in the Data Table is browser based the Cognos Analytics server is unable to generate external formats as it does for other data containers such as Lists and Crosstabs.
Answer
There is no option to export data from a Data Table container to external formats at this time.
An enhancement is logged in the IBM Ideas website requesting functionality to export data in Data Tables to external report formats.
