Node Warmstart Issue on SAN Volume Controller and Storwize Systems with Four-Port 16Gb Fibre Channel Adapters

Flashes (Alerts)

Abstract

Systems running V7.6.0.x, V7.6.1.0-7.6.1.4, and V7.7.0.0-7.7.0.3 may experience a node warmstart when using the four-port 16Gb Fibre Channel adapter.

Content

Systems containing the four-port 16 Gb Fibre Channel adapter may experience a single-node warmstart, when provoked by certain error conditions on the SAN. In rare cases, multiple nodes may see warmstarts at the same time, resulting in a host I/O interruption.

Systems running V7.7.1, or without four-port 16Gb Fibre Channel adapters, are not affected by this issue.

Fix

This issue is fixed by APAR IT16337 in V7.6.1.5.

The fix will also be included in a V7.7.0 PTF in the near future.
