Installing Netcool Impact Fix Pack 28 (7.1.0-TIV-NCI-FP0028) with FIPS-compliant mode enabled

How To

Summary

Will Netcool Impact Fix Pack 28 (7.1.0-TIV-NCI-FP0028) installation work with FIPS-compliant mode being previously enabled?

Objective

No it will fail, as users need to first disable Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) before upgrading to Fix Pack 28 (FP28).

Steps

To disable FIPS before upgrading to FP28:

$IMPACT_HOME/install/security/configImpactSSL.sh disable <impact admin passwd> -fips

Once the upgrade has been completed, re-enable FIPS:

$IMPACT_HOME/install/security/configImpactSSL.sh enable <impact admin passwd> -fips

Additional Information

An indication the FP28 upgrade failed, due to FIPS being enabled, would likely result in this type of message in the $IMPACT_HOME/wlp/usr/servers/<Impact Server>/logs/messages.log:
