Azure Synapse Datasource Errors On Test Connection Within The Secure Gateway Datasource Connection Using Correct Credentials: Connection failed due to invalid credentials

Troubleshooting


Problem

An Azure Synapse datasource connection fails when testing the datasource connection with correct username and password credentials within the Secure Gateway datasource connection of Planning Analytics Administration on Cloud environment.
When using the same credentials within SQL Server Management Studio, the credentials work successfully.

Diagnosing The Problem

For Azure Synapse datasource connections, the username must include the synapse database server host name

Resolving The Problem

STEPS:
1. In Planning Analytics Secure Gateway datasource test connection, enter the username as follows:

username@testserversynapse (Change the username to the username that works successfully) 

Example:
Synapse Host Database server = testserversynapse.sql.azuresynapse.net:1433
Username = ibm

The Login box entry would be specified as: ibm@testserversynapse
