Question & Answer

Question

The installation of Service Provider V8 takes a long time (~24 hours) to run updatedb on the DB2 database. Is there a way to speed this up?

Cause

This situation can occur when there are a high number of records in the Workorder table.

Answer

You can follow these instructions to help reduce the Service Provider installation time. The scripts can aid in reducing the installation time to approximately 55% of the original time (~13 hours).
Steps to follow:
  1. Make a backup of your database.
  2. Make a backup of the following 2 files:
    1. V7511_05.class in tools/maximo/classes/psdi/seviceprovider/en
    2. V7511_05.dbc in tools/maximo/en/seviceprovide
  3. Unpack the files attached to this article (7511_05_script.zip) and add them in the folder.
  4. Run the Service Provider installation.
