How is data formatting applied in TM1 - Planning Analytics?

Question & Answer

Question

How is data formatting applied in TM1 - Planning Analytics?
What are the priority rules?

Answer

Here are the points to remember when applying formats to data in TM1:
1- Only numeric data can be formatted (elements of type "Simple" or "Consolidated". Note: dates are numeric values too). Elements of type "String" cannot be formatted.
2-Dimension format takes precedence over cube format. The dimension format that is applied first is that of the last dimension having a format. However, in a view, if a dimension is placed as column, then its format takes precedence over all other dimensions, regardless of the position of that dimension in the structure of the cube.
3-If there is no dimension format, then the cube format is applied
