Problem

Worker component in all NCM servers shutting down automatically at the same time

Diagnosing The Problem

Check whether the following error is observed in /opt/IBM/tivoli/netcool/ncm/logs/Server.err file in all the servers at the same time.
Caused by: java.sql.SQLRecoverableException: No more data to read from socket 
    at 
    oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CMAREngine.unmarshalUB1(T4CMAREngine.java:1157)
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CTTIfun.receive(T4CTTIfun.java:350) 
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CTTIfun.doRPC(T4CTTIfun.java:227) 
If you see many of exceptions like this
Caused by: java.sql.SQLRecoverableException: No more data to read from socket
The only thing that could account for all of the servers going down at once would be inability to connect to the DB.

Resolving The Problem

Ask your DBA look at logs for this timeframe and ask whether they could determine what could cause this exception to happen? Also, can they enable database debugging somewhere to see whether there were any errors reported by the database itself?
