Troubleshooting
Problem
When users are trying to access Planning Analytics Workspace, they are receiving an error message similar to this one:
Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server
The proxy server could not handle the request GET
Reason: DNS lookup failure for: wa-proxy
Diagnosing The Problem
The present document is covering a situation where all these points were already checked:
- There is no conflict on the docker daemon port 53 (dockerd.exe)
- Port 53 and all ports that appear in <PAW>/config/paw.ps1 are allowed: Windows firewall (or other local firewall) is not blocking them.
- All containers are started as expected, meaning: all containers are "Up", except bss-init and couchdb-init
Resolving The Problem
Check whether Zero Networks is used in the company.
It is a microsegmentation solution that helps achieving least privilege networking automatically, and in a scalable way for every user and machines.
However, it is not a tool that can easily be detected locally by just checking the list of running processes: it is necessary to ask the question to the IT security team.
If Zero Networks is used, then ask the IT security team to allow any Planning Analytics Workspace communications.
