PH49341: A RACE CONDITION OF TRANSACTION TIMEOUT COULD LEAVE AN INDOUBT TRANSACTION AT RM SIDE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When a transaction timeout happens, there is a race condition
  where the XA resoruce is disassociated from the transaction
  before the actual abort. Thus, the abort processing doesn't
  cleanup the pending transaction at RM side.

  If indoubt transactions are occurring and the Microsoft JDBC
  driver 7.2 is being used, a boolean value was changed to an
  AtomicBoolean to fix the race condition.
  

Problem conclusion

• The race condition during the transaction timeout is fixed by
  changing the boolean value to an AtomicBoolean.  Indoubt
  transactions still can occur during system outages.  This fix
  is mainly for when transaction timeouts are occurring leaving
  transaction indoubt when using the Microsoft JDBC driver.
  
  The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack
