Troubleshooting
Problem
IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS (DOORS) does not show the image preview for an inserted OLE image.
Instead, the file name with an icon is displayed.
Cause
File extension association for .png files are not associated with an OLE provider (for example Microsoft Paint application) that can display image previews.
Resolving The Problem
Associate .png files with Microsoft Paint application
Method 1
1) Right-click an image (with .png file extension that cannot be previewed in DOORS) and open Properties
2) Change the "Opens with" application to Paint
3) Insert the OLE image again to DOORS.
Method 2
1) Open a command window as an Administrator
2) Check the current file extension association for .png files
assoc .png
3) If the result is not Paint.Picture, run the following command:
assoc .png=Paint.Picture
For example,
C:\Users\Administrator>assoc .png
.png=pngfile
C:\Users\Administrator>assoc .png=Paint.Picture
.png=Paint.Picture
C:\Users\Administrator>assoc .png
.png=Paint.Picture
4) Insert the OLE image again to DOORS
