The CEKL I TAS is looping through transactions. DFHCQSY checks
to see if each transactions has a MN TMA, that is monitoring is
active, and will be used to determine the CPU time used by the
task. In the case when the abend happens it is looking at the
tma of user transaction, which was started on 24/08/2022 and has
accrued more than 10 and half hours of CPU time
(00008CFD7B144C74). The code copies the significant bits of the
cpu time into a work field. This is then multiplied by 16(dec)
and then divided by 100000 (dec). It is this division that
    causes the 0C9.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Abend 0C9 in DFHCQSY. *
    ****************************************************************
A CICS region has been active for many months and has a long
    running transaction accumulating CPU time.
A CEKL INQUIRE TASK is issued from the console and it will
attempt to calculate the total CPU time used by all
    transactions.
The CPU time accumulated by the long running transaction is so
large that the result cannot be accommodated in a 32 bit
register and DFHCQSY abends with an abend 0C9.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHCQSY has been changed to use a 64 bit field for CPU time.
