PH50066: PLT PROGRAMS NOT CALLED AT STARTUP 22/11/07 PTF PECHANGE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Some CICS regions do not call the startup PLTPI programs.
  There are no error messages or indications of a failure.
  
  CICS module DFHSIPLT runs under the CPLT task and has a proc
  called LOAD_PLT.  Code added in CICS TS 5.5 changed the way that
  the proc sets its return code so that uninitialized storage is
  used. That leads to a logic problem which prevents the PLT
  programs from running.

  CICS is started with a PLTPI startup parameter specifying a
  DFHTABLE member which has a list of programs to execute
  during CICS initialisation.
  CICS reads the PLT source member and parses it into an array
  of programs to be executed.
  CICS sometimes does not execute the programs which were
  specified in the PLT list, dependent on the contents of an
  uninitialised return code variable.
  

Problem conclusion

• UI82076
  CICS has been changed to ensure that PLTPI programs are
  always executed.
