• Summary
  
  Cognos Dashboards Drill Through Parameters Unexpectedly Deleted
  when the column name and parameter name within the target report
  is changed.
  
  ENVIRONMENT
  
  Issue was reported on CA 11.1.7 FP4 but is also reproducible on
  CA 11.2.2. This testcase was done on CA 11.2.2
  
  CLIENT'S TAKE ON THIS
  
  In this case, client has implemented a drill through definition
  in a dashboard to a report that has 100 parameters. Someone
  takes the time, if required, to map the data items in the
  dashboard to the parameters in the report. Down the line, report
  authors either change the name of the parameter or the data item
  in the filter that the parameter equates to, which breaks the
  drill through definition in the dashboard. A parameter change
  will through an error message when trying to drill through.
  Their wish for this scenario is that the param name change
  propagates through to the drill through definitions. The latter
  change, changing the data item in the report filter, won?t break
  the drill through definition in dashboarding until that drill
  through definition is edited. A dashboard author would have to
  scan the list of 100 parameters each time to make sure nothing
  changed or broke. We can do better in at least giving them a
  visual indication something is broken and an easy way to fix it.
  
  EXPECTED RESULT
  
  Changes made in the Parameter name and Column name within the
  report filter should be automatically updated in the Dashboard
  drill through definition or a notification should pop up
  informing the client that something has been changed.
  
  ACTUAL OUTCOME
  
  When the column name in the Target report filter is changed:
  Drilling through on the column results in no data available.
  When you edit the drill through definition, you can observe that
  the Parameter value for the changed column name is broken.
  
  When the Parameter name is changed: Drilling through on the
  dashboard takes you to a prompt screen for with the parameter
  name. When you edit the drill through definition, you can
  observe that the Parameter value for the changed Parameter name
  is broken.
  
  STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE
  
  
  1. Import the TS009139724-Dashboard Drill Issue deployment
  2. Open the report and edit the report query
  
  Scenario 1
  
  - Change the column name on the last report filter
  - Save the report
  - Open the Dashboard and drill through on a field
  - Review the Drill through Definition
  
  Scenario 2
  
  - Change the Parameter name on the last report filter
  - Save the report
  - Open the Dashboard and drill through on a field
  - Review the Drill through Definition
  
  Observation: You can see that you would typically have to scroll
  down the the drill though definitions to locate the missing
  parameter value.
