IBM Pre-upgrade Verification tool for IBM i
The IBM Pre-upgrade Verification tool for IBM i is an "as-is" tool that runs on a Windows client and checks data on the IBM i partition to ensure that all the necessary requirements are completed prior to an IBM i upgrade.

This tool provides compatibility information for the various features and hardware of your system, including which fixes and software levels are required.

The ESS web site allows you to register and administer customer numbers associated with your software products and software maintenance products associated to your hardware serial numbers. Documentation shipped with your IBM i software order will provide you with the information required to register at the ESS web site and overview available support. Once registered, the following ESS applications provide functional support for you to access and manage the software products you have licensed from IBM: software entitlements, software keys, software release upgrade, electronic software download, and software maintenance inventory.
