APAR status

Error description

  • If IBM Spectrum Protect server reports the following type of IO
    error when using a tape volume, the tape should be dismounted
    and updated as unavailable:
    ANR8944E A hardware or media error occurred on drive DRIVEX
    (/dev/rmt2) with volume VOL001, OP=FLUSH,error number= 110,

    The dismount is performed  but the volume is not updated as
    unavailable. This may cause the same problem to happen again
    later.
