Summary

During the install and upgrade process of IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management running on WebSphere Application Server, some updated steps are required to use the new log4j2 logging.

Objective

Performing the install of 7.0.2 SR1 or upgrading from 7.0.1 or earlier version, there are changes required to some steps for configuring WebSphere Application Server.

Steps

In the Interactive Upgrade Guide section:

Update the JAZZ_HOME and configuration location custom properties

You must update JAZZ_HOME and configuration location custom properties on each application server that hosts the applications.

  1. Log on to the WebSphere Application Server Integrated Solutions Console at https://hostname:9043/ibm/console/logon.jsp.
  2. Click Servers > Server Types > WebSphere application servers.
  3. Click the server name to open it. The default server name is server1.
  4. Under Server Infrastructure section, click Java and Process Management > Process definition.
  5. Under Additional Properties, click Java Virtual Machine.
  6. Under Additional Properties, click Custom properties.
  7. Click JAZZ_HOME and update its value to file:///7.0.2SR1_install_dir/server/conf.
    • For example, file:///opt/IBM/JazzTeamServer_7.0.2SR1/server/conf.
  8. Change the property name "log4j.configuration" to "log4j2.configurationFile", and update its value to file:///7.0.2SR1_install_dir/server/conf/startup_log4j2.xml.
    • For example, file:///opt/IBM/JazzTeamServer_7.0.2SR1/server/conf/startup_log4j2.xml.
  9. Click lqe.config.location and update its value to file:///New_install_dir/server/conf/lqe
    • For example,
      • Linux: file:///opt/IBM/JazzTeamServer_NewInstall/server/conf/lqe
      • Windows: file:///C:/PROGRA~1/IBM/JazzTeamServer_NewInstall/server/conf/lqe
  10. Click ldx.config.location and update its value to file:///New_install_dir/server/conf/ldx
    • For example,
      • Linux: file:///opt/IBM/JazzTeamServer_NewInstall/server/conf/ldx
      • Windows: file:///C:/PROGRA~1/IBM/JazzTeamServer_NewInstall/server/conf/ldx
  11. Save the changes to the master configuration when prompted.
