**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * * DFSMSrmm customer using stacked volume which are not in * * library manager. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * * Confimmove processing of stacked volume which are not in * * library manager is not allowed. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * ****************************************************************
Problem conclusion
Confirmmove not allowed for stacked volume if volume is not in library manager, there is stacked flag in the module which was getting set only if the volume is in the library manager and that flag was getting checked to allow the confirm move processing of that stacked volume. Documentation updates for OA63639 Book: DFSMSrmm Implementation and Customization Guide Publication number : SC23-6874-50 Chapter 5 : Running DFSMSrmm with system-managed tape libraries Section : DFSMSrmm support for export processing when stacked volume support is enabled Page 110: Sentence change From: Those stacked volumes that are ?intransit? to a destination VTS are checked for library residence at their destination and the move confirmed if found resident. To: After apply of PTFs for APAR OA63639, stacked volumes that are ?intransit? to a destination VTS are not checked for library residence and the move can be confirmed with either global or volume-specific confirm move commands. Section : DFSMSrmm support for export processing when stacked volume support is enabled Page 112: Add a bullet 10: After apply of PTFs for APAR OA63639 it is now possible to manually CONFIRM MOVE a stacked volume that is returned to an SMS tape library.
