Can I use the configuration database for a traditional installation of IBM Content Navigator with a containerized deployment of IBM Content Navigator?

Cause

There are known configuration differences between traditional IBM Content Navigator (ICN) and Cloud Pak for Business Automation (CP4BA) deployments including themes and IBM Content Navigation admin desktop settings. As a result, currently, IBM does not support the use of the IBM Content Navigator configuration database from a traditional installation of with a containerized version of IBM Content Navigator. This statement is true the following containerized deployments of IBM Content Navigator:
  • IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation deployments
  • ICN containers used with IBM Content Manager and Content Manager OnDemand deployments
An existing IBM configuration database can be used with a containerized IBM Content Navigator in a stand-alone FileNet Content Manager or IBM Content Foundation containerized environment.

Answer

The use of a configuration database from a traditional IBM Content Navigator installation is not supported with a containerized IBM Content Navigation installation that is part of
  • A Cloud Pak for Business Automation containerized environment
  • A traditional installation of Content Manager onDemand
  • A traditional installation of IBM Content Manager
In these configurations, you must create a new IBM Content Navigator configuration database.
