Error description

  • Using COMPMSG ZLIBFAST on an SVRCONN channel produces CSQX208E
    RC=00000461 (ECONNRESET) reason=76650446 and on client side
    AMQ9504E RM680010 rriBadDataReceived  when the z/OS sending
    side tries to correctly round up the size of the network flows
    for SHARECNV SVRCONNs when being
    compressed by zlib. This does not normally cause any obvious
    issues until we need to send multiple flows in sequence and
    the first one does not have its size rounded up. Customer
    noticed this when sending messages (~360 KB) caused the
    protocol error on the client side.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When using message compression *
    *                      (COMPMSG ZLIBFAST) on a SVRCONN         *
    * channel, the channel may terminate with *
    *                      message CSQX208E.                       *
    ****************************************************************
    The compression logic does not align transmitted messages to
    the next 4 byte boundary. This is required by the wire protocol
    to ensure compatibility with platforms which require
    aligned access on a 4-byte boundary. This results in an FFST on
    the receiving platform due to a 4-byte boundary alignment
    check being performed, causing the channel to terminate.

Problem conclusion

  • The compression logic has been updated to align compressed
    messages to the next word boundary.
