Abstract

This technote is to advise the certificate used to sign Java applets components of Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus GUI 8.1.0 will expire 2023. Exact date of expiration depends on FixPack Level. If your FixPack Level is between 22 and 25, this certificate will expire on 23 January 2023. If your FixPack Level is between 26 and 29, this certificate will expire on 17 July 2023.

WebGUI's applets are already deprecated.  Please see the condiment as follows.
If still the Java applet version of the following components is used, they will stop working after 23 January 2023.
  • Active Event List (AEL
  • Event Dashboard
  • Map
  • Map Editor
Since Java applet versions of these components are already deprecated, Java script versions of these components substitute to Java applets can be used.

You can use Event Viewer substitute to AEL.
Also, you can edit $WebGUI_HOME/etc/server.init file as follows to be able to use Java Scripts based EventDashboad and Map functions.  When server.int is changed, WebSphere Application Server requires to be rebooted to reflect its changed configurations.

Recent WebGUI Fix Pack updated as follows in concerned with applets.
  • Fix Pack 23 removed from navigation-pane (means no longer supported but still available through a DASH new page)
  • Fix Pack 29 removed the WebSphere Application Server settings flag to support applet, for security on NOI-Cloud.
