Abstract

This fix pack is a cumulative release and addresses some new APARs and internally found issues since the release of IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact Version 7.1.0 Fix Pack 25 (for both Impact Core and Impact for NOI).

Prerequisites

This fix pack includes all maintenance since the GA of Impact V7.1.0. This fix pack can be applied directly to the base V7.1.0 product release or any previous fix pack or interim fix level.

  NOTE:
  • Upgrading to 7.1.0.4 is required, when the Impact version to be updated is at 7.1.0.1, 2, or 3
  • Prior to installing or upgrading, download the attached 7.1.0-TIV-NCI-FP0026-README file, and review section "3.0 Installation information" and associated subsections. 
  • For more information, see "Tivoli Netcool/Impact" section in to the Tivoli Netcool Impact 7.1 Release notes.

Known Side Effects

  • The Impact server Health Check utility can report issues associated with the Impact NOI Extensions. Depending on the upgrade path taken, there might be missing columns from Impact's Derby database for NOI. 

    There are two known issues, recorded in the file: ${impact.home}/logs/install/checkNOI.sql.out
       Issue 1: 
    ij> select IS_FROM_OLD_CONFIG_RUN from SEASONALITY.SEASONALITY_RESULTS_DATA WHERE 2=1; 
     ERROR 42X04: Column 'IS_FROM_OLD_CONFIG_RUN' is either not in any table...

       Issue 2: 
    ij> select DEFAULT_PATTERN_FILTER from RELATEDEVENTS.RE_CONFIGURATION WHERE 2=1;
     ERROR 42X04: Column 'DEFAULT_PATTERN_FILTER' is either not in any table...

       Resolution: The output generated by the utility contains links to the web page for the various resolution steps (depending on the issue detected!)

  • With the introduction of TLS 1.3 support, in the latest versions of Java, there is a need to provide that support in Impact 7.1. Therefore, a mechanism is now available in Impact 7.1.0 FP26 to enable the TLS 1.3 support.
     Known Issues:
       1. Impact TLS 1.3 works with Derby when Derby is SSL enabled. However, if Derby is SSL enabled, the sslMode needs to be as follows:
     
                derby.drda.sslMode=peerAuthentication
     
            NOTE: Update the ImpactDB.ds (Datasource) with the same sslMode value. The same is necessary for any other data source definitions that connect to the same Derby database.
     
        2. The configImpactTLSv13.sh script provides the options to configure the Impact TLS version. They are: "TLSv1.3", and "SSL_TLSv2". With "SSL_TLSv2" being the Impact configuration default at installation (it by default uses TLS version 1.2)
     
            NOTE: There are various scenario usages to consider. That includes TLSv1.3 and FIPS incompatibility!

  • Simple email notification addon:
     The email notification feature is now deprecated. New notification features such as ChatOps are available from IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps: https://www.ibm.com/cloud/cloud-pak-for-watson-aiops

    Email notifications are also available with the SendEmail policy. The function can send emails when a preset set of conditions or events occur: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/SSSHYH_7.1.0/policy/impr_action_sendemail_c.html
