Error description

  • When there are multiple network adapters configured in IBM
Spectrum Protect Plus, changing one of the network settings in
the Administrative Console will fail when there is an empty line
in one of the network configuration files in
    /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/.

The Administrative Console will give an error message in a red
    panel with following message:
        Encountered Errors
500 - Internal Server Error Internal Server Error

The ecxemi.log, which is included in the log bundle, shows:

    com.catalogic.ecx.ecxemi.controller.exception.NetconfigExceptio

IBM Spectrum Protect Plus Versions Affected:
    IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.x

Local fix

  • 1. Inspect the network configuration files located in
    /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ for empty lines
    2. Remove these empty lines
    3. Restart the network with 'sudo systemctl restart network'
    4. Verify if the Administrative Console is working as expected
