This document describes how to download installation images for IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.11.x.

Important: All existing virtual appliance deployments running 10.1.10 and earlier were built on the CentOS 7 operating system. Beginning with 10.1.11, the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server and vSnap server virtual appliances are built by using RHEL 8. To upgrade to 10.1.11, existing CentOS 7 operating system must be migrated to new virtual appliances running Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8). All server versions 10.1.8 or earlier must be updated to 10.1.9 or later before you upgrade to 10.1.11. For more information, see IBM Spectrum Protect Plus: How to upgrade the vSnap server and IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server versions to 10.1.11 using Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.

Images on Fix Central online

To get the most current features and enhancements, it is required to update IBM Spectrum Protect Plus from a previous version or release. Maintenance packages and interim fixes are delivered on Fix Central. The HTTP link in the section "Download package" directs to the Fix Central online website.

The maintenance packages and interim fixes available through Fix Central do not contain the required license enablement files. For initial installation of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus, you must obtain your packages, with the associated license enablement files, from the Passport Advantage Online website.

You can optionally expand the environment with the images listed in the following sections. These images can be installed at any time after the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server component is installed and deployed.

vSnap Server and VADP proxy
In larger backup enterprise environments, more vSnap servers might be required.
You can create proxies to run VMware backup jobs through vStorage API for Data Protection (VADP) in Linux environments. The proxies reduce demand on system resources by enabling load sharing and load balancing.

License

A license key is required to convert the trial version to a fully licensed version.

A subscription license is required to support Microsoft Office 365 Exchange Online and OneDrive.

A perpetual license option is not available.

Note: Entitlement to protect Microsoft Office 365 is NOT included in the IBM Spectrum Protect Suites or the IBM Spectrum Storage Suite, therefore needs to be purchased separately. For test and proof of concept purposes, the license is not required. Important: For this IBM Spectrum Protect Plus level, migration to RHEL 8 is required for IBM Spectrum Protect Plus in a virtual appliance environment. If you are updating to IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.11, follow the steps in technote 6597939 to update to 10.1.11.

Note:

When you update IBM Spectrum Protect Plus, at a minimum, you must have enough free space to complete the installation. Generally, you must have 4.5 GB available in the /tmp directory for offline updates and 500 MB available in the /tmp directory for online update. Additionally, you must have 1.5 GB free in the /var directory and 2 GB free in the root directory.
Do not change the names of the files that you download. The original file names are required for the installation or update process to complete without errors.
For the hostname of the OVA deployment, do not use a name that includes the underscore character "_".

You can locate the images on the Fix Central online website by using the product name, version, and platform as the search query. For example, use the "IBM Spectrum Protect Plus".
Reminder: The images available through Fix Central do not contain license enablement files. Install previous a base level package before you use these packages.
Passport Advantage Online website:
Passport Advantage is a secure website that requires an account ID and password. It has all of the images associated with IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.11.x available for download.
You can locate the images on the Passport Advantage Online website by using the part number as the search query. For example, to locate the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus for VMware virtual appliance, use the search query M062CML, and for IBM Spectrum Protect Plus for Hyper-V virtual appliance, use M062DML.
