Question & Answer
Question
How do you virtually or horizontally scale IBM Cloud Pak for Security (CP4S) after installation and production live?
Cause
The newly added resources, while the server is still running without restarts, are not visible by Red Hat® OpenShift Container Platform or CP4S.
CP4S does not support Network File System (NFS). Red Hat OpenShift and IBM Cloud Pak foundational services do not have a nfs-dynamic provisioner.
There are no supported ways to auto resize VMware thin storage. Often, customers that use virtual appliance installations of CP4S want to expand the virtual disks. Unfortunately, these types of disk expansions, or additions of physical drives to existing appliances, are not supported solutions. Attempts to expand storage space by using these methods can cause major problems, including data loss.
Answer
Vertical Scaling:
- Add new disk space.
- Add new CPU or RAM.
Horizontal Scaling:
- Add servers to deployment.
NOTE: the number of master nodes are fixed at installation time.
