Abstract
This workshop provides comprehensive guidance for creating, monitoring, and administering of IBM Spectrum® Virtualize systems like IBM SAN Volume Controller (SVC) or IBM FlashSystem®. The students can apply what they learned during the hands-on sessions.

IBM Spectrum® Virtualize Introduction and Administration Hands-on Training |
The students get an overview about the IBM Spectrum Virtualize architectures like stretched and HyperSwap® and concepts.
In the following modules, the students learn about software features like mirroring, monitoring tasks, and operational procedures and apply this knowledge during hands-on sessions. With this knowledge, they are equipped to administer and monitor your IBM Spectrum Virtualize clusters efficiently.
This workshop is delivered in an online fashion through Cisco® Webex® Training that can be easily accessed by web browser. Each participant gets access to a remote IBM Spectrum Virtualize setup for hands-on practice.
The following modules are included in this workshop. Some modules are accompanied by hands-on sessions.
- Introducing the IBM Spectrum Virtualize
- Cluster types, stretched cluster, HyperSwap
- Cluster creation and storage provisioning, quorum, fabric zoning
- Host volume access infrastructure
- Thin provisioning, compression, and deduplication, Easy Tier®
- Data migration facilities
- Copy services: FlashCopy® (local) and remote copy
- Safeguarded copy
- Managing the SVC environment, monitoring, Call-Home-Service
Architects, technical experts, and system administrators for IBM Spectrum Virtualize systems
- Basic knowledge about storage and Storage Area Network (SAN) recommended.
- Laptop or workstation running Windows®, macOS®, or Linux®
- Internet access
